Actors' head shots, are done in an 8"×10" format. Other promotional images, for example, press shots and lobby prints and post cards, may be in many different sizes and proportions. Modern Head shots are often not photographic prints, instead they are typically printed digitally. Head Shots are almost always printed on a gloss card-weight stock. They are typically retouched to remove imperfections of the skin, fly away hairs, etc. Resumes may be printed directly on the back of the Headshot or stapled to the back.
Creating the perfect headshot?
Actors often have a printed head shot with an attached résumé for auditions. Head shots are typically medium close-up photographs which show the top of the shoulders up to above the head. In a typical head shot the eyes will be in the top, middle half of the photo according to industry standards. The Actor should be facing directly forward and there should be a neutral and plain background.
